more boring talk

from me. What's worse than boring talk? TAXES! Yes, that's right. I did my taxes last week and am now patiently awaiting the return. Unfortunately, it's all spent already. $1600 for fuel that I haven't paid for that's nicely keeping my tush warm. $1500 for a CC payoff... ugh, Christmas. $1000 toward the Disneyland vacation. *sigh* Oh well, at least the government saved it for me. LOL!

Also did my friend, Karen's taxes and my mom's taxes. Anyone else? ;-) It's not like i'm a tax accountant but I guess nobody trusts themselves to do them and of course, nobody wants to pay to have them done by H&R Blech. I had my taxes done there a few years ago thinking that they'd hook me up with stuff I wasn't thinking to deduct. Wrong. They did the same damn taxes I do and I ended up paying them like $250 for nothing.

Let's see... what else to report? I'm procrastinating getting off my behind. Gia is walking around the house with a robe and towel on her head. She thinks she has to be like "mom" with the towel wrap. The tv is blaring. I don't even know what's playing. Orion fell asleep at 9 on the couch and I just woke him up and told him to hit the sack. He's too heavy to carry now. That makes me sad that one of my babies is too big to carry. The baby is fast asleep but she only played with me for an hour tonight. Usually enough playtime for me on a weekday but i'm used to more. Thinking about waking her up... NOT! lol Gia has now reported back with her pajamas on. She thinks she has to tell me EVERYTHING she does. "Mom, I went to the bathroom." "Mom, I have my socks on now." heehehe. It's dark in the house right now and it's making me sleepy. I'm signing off for now.

i haven't dropped...

... off the face of the planet... yet. I'm still here!

Nothing interesting to report lately. I have been working like a dog so just haven't had a lot of motivation to write (or think for that matter) lately.

I was kind of embarrassed about my idiocy yesterday while driving. I'm on the highway - the same one I drive day in and day out for the past god-knows-how-long. I'm at the stopped intersection making a left... just waiting for my turn. It's an arrow light so la-dee-dah. I start heading for the turn when i realize that the arrow is still red and i'm just going to go because the oncoming traffic is far enough away for me to make it. LOL, so i slam on the brakes halfway through it and have to backup because of the cross-traffic that the light will turn green for in T minus 10 seconds. It was funny... kind of. The car behind me was even ready to follow me on through the turn! LOL, anyway... i totally felt like an ass trying to play it off like "hee-hee... i'm a dummy." (fidget with radio knobs... don't act like you never do that when you don't want to make eye contact! lmao)

Family news:
We are 58 days away from Disneyland. I am still stoked although feeling like it's going to be FOREVER until we go. I wish these days would fly by faster.

Orion lost a tooth today while eating an apple. It's been loose for like 4 months. LOL! It's his second official lost tooth. I'm waiting for the top front ones to come out as those are the teeth that the enamel is ruined. I'm praying that the new ones come in shiny and white. You might be asking why I said "official" a few sentences ago. Well, last year I noticed that they had a toothfairy chart at school and who's name should appear with tooth stickers next to it? Yep... he claimed he had lost 3 teeth already I think. Truth of the matter is that he didn't start losing teeth until this year and those other teeth were all removed by a dentist! And it was only 2 so this boy was really putting on an act!

Marissa is becoming pretty mobile. She can get from sitting to laying on her belly and rolls around on the floor some. We have to get moving on baby-proofing. Our house is "fairly" babified but only insomuch as we don't have anything for her to really break. The safety is the major point and when we bought this place, Gia was almost 3 so there wasn't much she needed for safety. My major concern is this area from our living room to the foyer on the main level of the house. We have a stairway, yes... that's no problem gating that off but there's also a peekthrough on the stairway. It's not a wall... it's a built in shelving unit that has open areas so you can see who's at the front door or who's in the foyer. I'm afraid she's going to take a dive through there. Heck, the kids mess around there now but i usually scold them if i see them hanging through. It's not a super high place but it's high enough to hurt. I asked Kurt if we could just close the whole thing up but he hasn't made the initiative yet to get it done.

Marissa is also getting pretty interactive with us. When I do the "lollipop" POP with the finger inside my mouth, she copies me (of course she can't make the noise but she tries) and then says "bup!" She is doing the clicking noise with her tongue and can also make kiss-like noises. When i ask for a kiss, she sometimes will lean forward and put her whole mouth to mine (open!) I hear her saying "mumumumu..." more now but i don't think she is calling me yet. She's been saying "dadadada" for a long time but again, not really calling us. She knows her name so if you say it, she looks at you. She will do the indian noises with her mouth and hand now. And she is standing pretty good and taking steps with help. I am working on getting her to stand with no support from me or the furniture. She can do it but she freaks out if she thinks she is on her own. LOL

Gia is up to the same ol' silliness. She truly is a sweetie but boy oh boy can she talk... and whine and complain. :) Yesterday she asked me when i would buy her a dress and i'm all, "dress?!!? You don't even like dresses I thought." She has actually become more interested in girly stuff lately. I told her that I couldn't buy her a bunch of dresses because of all the wasted money and money used for bills. LOL, i'm so mean! I explained that if she continued to waste food, electricity, water, etc. that we couldn't buy dresses. Then I told her how many dresses we could buy with each bill I pay. I said, "this house costs $1500 a month. that means i could buy like 80 dresses if I didn't have to pay that!" "the water bill is $200 a month! I could buy 10 new dresses if we didn't waste all that water!" On one hand, I think these are good lessons but on the other hand, i don't like to say this kind of stuff too much because i remember that i grew up way too fast with financials (my parents financial stuff that is). She is very much me, though... just amplified. She talks more, talks louder, and whines & fights more. Same Monica attitude, though. heeeheha

Ok, time to get off this computer. my legs are falling asleep.

100th entry

into this blog... and still, nothing interesting! I think I should win something for that, don't you? ;)

It's Saturday. Thank god. Although, it's looking to be a pretty crappy weekend already. Kurt had problems with his vehicle last night and took my car to work. He came home and said someone put a dent in it. ugh. oh well, i guess it's payback since i dented his a few years ago. LOL! Hope nothing major wrong with his vehicle, though. He said the alarm started going off while he was driving home the other day and a few months ago he had to take out all of the light bulbs in the interior because they wouldn't turn off. Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Great... lol, I know that it's probably an easy fix but once you have one electrical problem, it's pretty much guaranteed you'll have more.

Not exactly sure what we're doing today. He's taking a nap right now to get that out of the way so we'll see. I still need to get some cleaning stuff around here done and want to take photos of the kids if possible. It's been awhile.

Tomorrow we're doing Orion's birthday party at the Glow-Putt place so that should be an all day event since I have to pick up balloons/cake/snacks and all. Can't believe he's almost 8! No school on his birthday, Monday but I gotta work of course. Also have student-led conference that day. Weeee! I may skip it. Bad mom I know but I've gone to every single one for the past three years. I think I need a break from it. Maybe I can convince Kurt to do it JUST freakin' once. LOL

Ok, time to round 'em up. :)

Seems like just yesterday...

i was posting about my 30th birthday. Boy time flies fast when you're having old. :) Not sure what to write about. I'm 31. I'm feeling a bit older today. In fact, just last night I experienced some old people behavior. I had just filled my belly with dominos and next thing you know, i'm falling asleep to the sweet lullaby of Dr. Phil playing on the tv. This was at like 10:30 pm or so... on a Friday night no less.

Got stuff planned for the evening. Celebrating a dual birthday with a coworker (Holly). Karen has planned some kind of twisted scavenger hunt for us. It should be fun. I plan to drink... that is, if this old lady can still handle alcohol.

Today, i'll probably spend the day moping about. LOL.. no, i'll probably just go clean and organize the scraphole first. I got a new unit for my storage system so finally i can move more stuff in. Need to get rid of my old computer down there as it is making some whining noises that don't sound too good. It's probably about to bite the dust... as well it should be on its last leg. I just realized that it's now 7 1/2 years old. Woah... it's served me well but it's time to say goodbye. I need a workstation set up down there so I can just plop my laptop there where all my peripheral equipment is. I have a printer that's been sitting in the box since Christmas time, digital tablet in the box still, and there's a layer of dust on the printer, scanners and robocraft. It's a mess.

Next on the plan is a haircut. I haven't had one in like 2 years or more. Also want to get my eyebrows done... i'm about due. You know... freshen myself up for the 31st year. LOL

Should probably spend some time with the lady that brought me into this world. :) It's kind of hard around my birthday because my dad's gone (been gone for a long time)... his birthday was always right after mine on Valentine's Day. I usually think about him on my birthday every year... remembering only the good times of course. hehe.

Welp, I should get going. Gia woke up and is all upset because she doesn't have a birthday gift for me. LOL what a goof.

Mickey on the brain

I can't believe I haven't updated in like a week and a half or whatever. *sigh* Thanks for the reminder, Laura. ;) Guess life's just been getting in the way a lot lately. Trying to rebuild some sembelance of a schedule here. Seems like a weird winter. All I seem to do is work and clean and sleep lately. Weekends are nice but i don't ever feel rested at all. LOL... plus i haven't been finding any time to scrap. Boo-hiss!!!!

Onto better news... i've spontaneously exploded with disneymania. I have talked Kurt into taking us to Disneyland in May (target dates May 1-8, 7 days)!!! We haven't booked yet but after doing extensive research (thanks, Annette :)) I am pretty sure this will be the cheapest and best time for us to go. It will be far enough ahead of when school gets out (school ends 3rd week of May) for me to not feel guilty for taking Orion out of school. Also, I have to do some work travel around the state the last weekish of April so couldn't go then... and it'll give me a nice long break from the office. Muhahhahahaa! Booking in March/early April was out of the question. The airfare and hotel prices were insane. June was too late I fear and more crowded at Disneyland I'm sure... and probably too hot for this long time Alaskan. I must've searched every day for the best rates on tickets/hotel. It's "Kids Fly Free" on Alaska Airlines so we will probably get our airline tickets for about $2000 (2 adults and 2 kids... and Marissa can ride on my lap I'm sure) and the hotel and DL park hopper tickets for another $1800. Eeeeeee! So can't afford it out of pocket... But I just estimated the tax return and it will hopefully support at least half of the trip. The plastic will just have to be tarnished a little bit more. *sigh*

I don't know what came over me. I just got a hair up my @$$ if you know what I mean. We don't travel often. Kurt is a cranky traveler and pretty much a homebody. I, on the other hand, LOVE to travel and do every chance I get (not often). Yes, i get a little cranky when the trip's not going my way--- but for the most part, I handle things in a more relaxed manner. Let's not get started on that whole topic. I could write for days. hehe. So I said i wanted to go to Disneyland. Never been and i'm really psyched! I've truly always envisioned going to Disney World but that seems really scary to me at this time in my life. Kids are young, infant in tow... a vast vast land of unknown territory... scary. Not sure I could come out of Florida alive.

Everyone we've told we wanted to go has been surprised that we want to take Marissa. It was actually my idea. Kurt was a little surprised, too. I know... taking a 13 month old to Disneyland is probably not the GREATEST route to a great time but i don't care. I could easily talk my mom into taking time off work to watch Marissa while we go but what's the fun in that? This is a family vacation. Last time I checked, she was part of that. It may not be memorable to her but it'll be memorable to us. Does that make sense? It's going to be hard. I'm not delusional. We may not be able to go on the rides all together but at least *we* will be together. ;)

I have thrown some "hinty" invitations out to both grandmas but neither has taken the bait. It would be nice to have more adults in the family there with us. Kurt had spoken with his mom (in NY) last weekend and I guess she didn't seem really interested. I think probably due to her fear of flying. My mom scoffed at me a little bit but I am going to ask her one more time in case she needed time to think it over... don't want to leave her out or she might get P.O'ed at me. heheheh.

I'm excited if you can't tell. Been researching a lot as i want to be prepared. :)

Well... not much else new to report. Just been busy trying to keep it all together. I need to go do a bunch of stuff before I hit the sack. I need to put more pictures on my boring little blog here. For now, here is something from my gallery at SA:

black makes me happy

only getting 2 hours of sleep really messes me up for the day. i was so tired after work that i accidentally fell asleep on the couch for like 3 hours. LOL. Now, I'll probably be up until 4 am. Good thing tomorrow is Friday. Yay!

i was up late last night because i started this layout and had to finish it... had been putting it off and everything was already planned in the head so I just needed to actually put my hands on the paper. LOL

For ScrapAddict, a February kit called Black is a Happy Color. I like the name of that kit because i'm pretty big on black. :)

I have so many projects and layouts to complete. I really need a week off from work to catch up a little bit but truth be told, i'd probably spend a week off just avoiding the deadline stuff. lol i'm like that... i work best under pressure and deadlines. I HATE it but it's true, i do.

Laura, guess what I'm going to go do after I hit publish on this post? I'll give you a hint. It has to do with clothes and a washing machine. lmbo

jan 8 blog challenge

Ok, here we go even though it's not jan 8 here yet. hehee...
from Annette@ScrapAddict:
Finish the sentence

1. I've come to realize that my life is...
good! I used to think that it wasn't but as i get older, perspectives change. I like a lot of things about my life. Sure, there are things i don't like but for the most part, i love all of the people in my life and i am enjoying as much as i can.

2. I am listening to...
the background of the tv right now... but i think maybe we are supposed to be talking about music. i haven't had the time to really even think much about music in the past 8 years so sadly, all i'm listening to is whatever's playing on the popular radio station. There are lots of good songs... i admit it, i like the catchy radio muzak but don't tell my industrial cds that i said that.

3. I talk...
pretty fast and with abandon. i've put my foot in my mouth many times but i've also had a chance to say some pretty funny stuff.

4. I love...
Donald Trump... LOL, i just finished watching the season premiere of the Apprentice.

5. My best friends...
don't mind that i'm such a dork.

6. Love is...
those silly "love is" cartoons from the newspaper... remember those?! I miss those silly ol' things.

7. Somewhere, someone is thinking...
"what's wrong with her?!?"

8. I'll always ...
be me. no matter what i look like, it's me deep down.

9. The last time I cried was because...
i was stressed out.

10. My cell phone...
drops calls, never rings when it should, and notifies me of voicemails like 24 hours AFTER the fact! I hate you, cell phone!

11. Before I go to bed...
i need to do more laundry.

12. Right now I am thinking about...
whether or not i feel like the weekend was a success.

13. Today I...
started planning a DisneyLand vacation. I really want to take the kids but i don't know when it's going to happen.

14. Tonight I will...
hopefully sleep like a baby.

15. Tomorrow I will be...
sad because it's just another icky Monday. :(

and a peek at what i made today featuring Cosmo Cricket paper!

tooling along...

Well, not much happening in this neck of the woods. I have just been trying to get things in order... at work, at home, in my head... LOL

Thanksgiving was fun. My brother and Kurt's brother didn't come - lazy bums! Oh well, just ended up having my mom over. She pretty much ruled the kitchen. Frustrating but okay by me at the same time if you know what I mean. Here is a layout with the placecards that I started this year. I am so going to have to make this a tradition. Not like I'll forget... my kids tend to cling to details so i'm sure they'll remind me next year. :)

We Gather Together SDJ @ ScrapAddict

I have a feeling it's going to turn out to be a lousy week. Nice attitude, eh? LOL, that'll come true with an attitude like that... but for real. It's only Monday and the week after long weekends is always the most dreadful. Bleh! December is fast upon us and I am not yet panicked but that'll come really soon. :P Ahhh well.

what is WRONG with me?

Totally having one of those blah days. A friend and I went to get our eyebrows done so while we were there, decided to get our nails done, too. I haven't had nails in years but thought they might make me feel better. Bah, not really... although they do look nice an shiny. ;-)

I need to do so many things but lately seem to be in this laundry-cleaning funk. Seems like all I can manage to do is do laundrey and clean things here and there. Nothing major enough to notice so it doesn't give me that "yahoo - i got a lot of crap done" feeling. Know what I mean?

Probably just the ho hum winter blues already. It is COLD here! -13 ... If I'm cold already, not sure I'll last through the entire winter. Got another 6 months to go and at least 30 degrees colder. I thought it was going to be a mild winter bur somehow I think I might be wrong about that.

Ok, i think i've griped enough for now. Maybe i'll go watch something comedic for a possible attitude change. LOL!

party time

Fixing to go to a "late" halloween party. Long story and I won't bore ya. ;) Hopefully I'll get some pics of the kids in their costumes. I missed it on Halloween night due to not doing it before the trick or treating. Then Gia passed out shortly after we got home. Marissa of course, too... and I didn't even take her trick or treating! LOL

Last night was a bomb. I fell asleep all early... what's with me falling asleep early on weekend nights but staying up all hours on weekdays? *grumble* Needless to say, no scrapping again but I'm so aching to scrap. Why can't I just press life's pause button to go scrap? Wouldn't that be great? hehee
