exhausted

I'm so tired today. I couldn't fall asleep so I only got like 3 hours of sleep. Ugh! The only good thing was that Marissa and I had a fun time in the middle of the night. LOL!

Getting ready to book the vacation to Disney. Here's the breakdown so far (if I get these prices)
$1911 airfare (no seat for Marissa... probably about $500 extra if I get her a seat which I do want but not sure yet)
$1098 hotel (7 nights)
$300 car rental (7 days)
$136 vacation insurance
$674 Five Day Park Hopper passes

Grand total of about $4120 - this of course doesn't cover eats or anything else we plan to buy. Also, we may visit some other parks while there. I figure when it's all said and done about $6000. EGADS! But I don't care... I want to have FUN and I am hoping it will be. :)

Work was insane today. I am at peak stress levels again. I am trying to keep calm and cool but it's hard not to stress. Not going to think about it anymore because I'm at home now. hehee.

Whelp, that's it from me. Another boring post in my sea of boring posts. ;)

sunday nights

... sunday night again. i hate 'em. it's the knowing that it'll all be over soon. The weekend, that is.

*sigh* Not a whole lot to report here. I am still in disney freak mode trying to learn all i can before i take the plunge. i'm just obsessive like that.

not-so-cool happening of the day:
Karen stayed over last night and called me into the kitchen first thing this morning. I jump up and head to the sliding doors - what should appear before my groggy eyes? The dog was chasing a big ass moose around the back yard. He was hugantic... with the big rack and all!!! Sweetie was having a grand time playing with this big moose... running around it and then back up the stairs to the deck. The moose was apparently having a grand time, too. He kept charging and trying to stomp on her. When she ran up the stairs, he'd charge the deck. I so thought he was going to ram the house. I had the kids back away from the door and of course they just went down to Orion's room underneath the deck to watch from ground level through his window. I watched in horror for about 10 minutes and couldn't take it anymore. Sweetie refused to come inside and that moose looked like he was ready to follow her up the stairs and charge right into the house. LOL! He did finally back off and jump over the fence to head back to the slough. Whew!

Other weekend adventures:

Taught Marissa how to make the kissy sound. She's so freaking cute! Also, she is learning how to give me five. Getting good at that. I love her new thing where she nods her head yes, too. Adorable... not sure where she learned that but if I start singing a song she likes, she nods her head like she doesn't want me to stop. Heheee.

Bought a new sweater set from Old Navy. It's a L but I really needed an XL. The L fits but i look a little too bust-erific in it if you know what i mean. I would rather not display the goods so visually. LOL... maybe if i lose 10 lbs it'll fit a little better.

Watched two sleepytime movies - Miami Vice (yawn) - i couldn't look away because of Colin Farrell but other than that... ick. Employee of the Month - another bore but I was forced to rent it due to Dane Cook. He's funny in it but nothing like his stand up. The only reason I even halfway enjoyed EotM was because I could relate having worked in a food store before. Granted, this was like a costco but same difference really. heheehe.

Ok, that's it from me tonight. Here's to Monday. May it pass quickly.

Mickey on the brain

I can't believe I haven't updated in like a week and a half or whatever. *sigh* Thanks for the reminder, Laura. ;) Guess life's just been getting in the way a lot lately. Trying to rebuild some sembelance of a schedule here. Seems like a weird winter. All I seem to do is work and clean and sleep lately. Weekends are nice but i don't ever feel rested at all. LOL... plus i haven't been finding any time to scrap. Boo-hiss!!!!

Onto better news... i've spontaneously exploded with disneymania. I have talked Kurt into taking us to Disneyland in May (target dates May 1-8, 7 days)!!! We haven't booked yet but after doing extensive research (thanks, Annette :)) I am pretty sure this will be the cheapest and best time for us to go. It will be far enough ahead of when school gets out (school ends 3rd week of May) for me to not feel guilty for taking Orion out of school. Also, I have to do some work travel around the state the last weekish of April so couldn't go then... and it'll give me a nice long break from the office. Muhahhahahaa! Booking in March/early April was out of the question. The airfare and hotel prices were insane. June was too late I fear and more crowded at Disneyland I'm sure... and probably too hot for this long time Alaskan. I must've searched every day for the best rates on tickets/hotel. It's "Kids Fly Free" on Alaska Airlines so we will probably get our airline tickets for about $2000 (2 adults and 2 kids... and Marissa can ride on my lap I'm sure) and the hotel and DL park hopper tickets for another $1800. Eeeeeee! So can't afford it out of pocket... But I just estimated the tax return and it will hopefully support at least half of the trip. The plastic will just have to be tarnished a little bit more. *sigh*

I don't know what came over me. I just got a hair up my @$$ if you know what I mean. We don't travel often. Kurt is a cranky traveler and pretty much a homebody. I, on the other hand, LOVE to travel and do every chance I get (not often). Yes, i get a little cranky when the trip's not going my way--- but for the most part, I handle things in a more relaxed manner. Let's not get started on that whole topic. I could write for days. hehe. So I said i wanted to go to Disneyland. Never been and i'm really psyched! I've truly always envisioned going to Disney World but that seems really scary to me at this time in my life. Kids are young, infant in tow... a vast vast land of unknown territory... scary. Not sure I could come out of Florida alive.

Everyone we've told we wanted to go has been surprised that we want to take Marissa. It was actually my idea. Kurt was a little surprised, too. I know... taking a 13 month old to Disneyland is probably not the GREATEST route to a great time but i don't care. I could easily talk my mom into taking time off work to watch Marissa while we go but what's the fun in that? This is a family vacation. Last time I checked, she was part of that. It may not be memorable to her but it'll be memorable to us. Does that make sense? It's going to be hard. I'm not delusional. We may not be able to go on the rides all together but at least *we* will be together. ;)

I have thrown some "hinty" invitations out to both grandmas but neither has taken the bait. It would be nice to have more adults in the family there with us. Kurt had spoken with his mom (in NY) last weekend and I guess she didn't seem really interested. I think probably due to her fear of flying. My mom scoffed at me a little bit but I am going to ask her one more time in case she needed time to think it over... don't want to leave her out or she might get P.O'ed at me. heheheh.

I'm excited if you can't tell. Been researching a lot as i want to be prepared. :)

Well... not much else new to report. Just been busy trying to keep it all together. I need to go do a bunch of stuff before I hit the sack. I need to put more pictures on my boring little blog here. For now, here is something from my gallery at SA:

black makes me happy

only getting 2 hours of sleep really messes me up for the day. i was so tired after work that i accidentally fell asleep on the couch for like 3 hours. LOL. Now, I'll probably be up until 4 am. Good thing tomorrow is Friday. Yay!

i was up late last night because i started this layout and had to finish it... had been putting it off and everything was already planned in the head so I just needed to actually put my hands on the paper. LOL

For ScrapAddict, a February kit called Black is a Happy Color. I like the name of that kit because i'm pretty big on black. :)

I have so many projects and layouts to complete. I really need a week off from work to catch up a little bit but truth be told, i'd probably spend a week off just avoiding the deadline stuff. lol i'm like that... i work best under pressure and deadlines. I HATE it but it's true, i do.

Laura, guess what I'm going to go do after I hit publish on this post? I'll give you a hint. It has to do with clothes and a washing machine. lmbo

obsessing...

it's been a really horrible week. i'm not gonna go into details... it's counterproductive at this point. ;)

on another more interesting note... i have been totally obsessed with decorating lately. i want to do so many things (paint my nasty wood panelled wall finally, modify decor or lack therof, buy new furnishings and art... oh boy). I'm not sure where all of this is coming from. I think i might get this itch every new year. Everything seems so out of reach at this point and i've been obsessed for like 3 weeks... i think it may die out soon. i hope. LOL. if you've got the itch, too... you should check out www.apartmenttherapy.com. Lots of overpriced and over the top stuff and ideas but it's inspiring nonetheless. i sometimes wonder if i should've been an interior designer. If i had someone else's money to spend, i would have a BLAST decorating rooms.

Orion has been having a bit of a hard time going to bed this week due to the holiday vacation. I send him off at 9:30 and on day one he was still up at 12:30 am claiming he couldn't fall asleep. The past few nights, i think it's been better but probably not falling asleep until 10:30 or 11. At least he's been on time all week, though. That's an improvement. Honestly, the lateness is mainly my fault. I keep waking up late. I think it's the blah of work and the blah of winter. i have no motivation to get out of bed. *sigh*... maybe the blahs anyway... or depression. But is there even a difference? LOL

Weight loss is going slowly. i kind of had a bit of regression for a few weeks where i gained a few, lost a few, teeter tottering on the brink of failure. ;) I can say that i'm a steady 177 now so just 47 lbs to go. I made a little goal for myself to get to 170 by Feb 1st but at this rate, it might take a few extra weeks. We'll see. I just need to keep it on my mind more often... instead of that cheesecake I made a few days ago. hehehee

Did you know this? Jan 8 - 12th is National De-Lurking Week. What has the world come to? LOL

Right now I'm fighting to get Orion to bed. I have told him like 10 times to get to bed and here he is in the bathroom. I yell "what are you still doing in there?" and guess what he said? "Okay, i'm shaving!!!!" LMBO! Fake shaving, but it sounds so funny coming from a 7 year old boy.

I usually end my blog entries talking about how I need to go do laundry. Guess what? Yeah, i need to go do some laundry. ;)

jan 8 blog challenge

Ok, here we go even though it's not jan 8 here yet. hehee...
from Annette@ScrapAddict:
Finish the sentence

1. I've come to realize that my life is...
good! I used to think that it wasn't but as i get older, perspectives change. I like a lot of things about my life. Sure, there are things i don't like but for the most part, i love all of the people in my life and i am enjoying as much as i can.

2. I am listening to...
the background of the tv right now... but i think maybe we are supposed to be talking about music. i haven't had the time to really even think much about music in the past 8 years so sadly, all i'm listening to is whatever's playing on the popular radio station. There are lots of good songs... i admit it, i like the catchy radio muzak but don't tell my industrial cds that i said that.

3. I talk...
pretty fast and with abandon. i've put my foot in my mouth many times but i've also had a chance to say some pretty funny stuff.

4. I love...
Donald Trump... LOL, i just finished watching the season premiere of the Apprentice.

5. My best friends...
don't mind that i'm such a dork.

6. Love is...
those silly "love is" cartoons from the newspaper... remember those?! I miss those silly ol' things.

7. Somewhere, someone is thinking...
"what's wrong with her?!?"

8. I'll always ...
be me. no matter what i look like, it's me deep down.

9. The last time I cried was because...
i was stressed out.

10. My cell phone...
drops calls, never rings when it should, and notifies me of voicemails like 24 hours AFTER the fact! I hate you, cell phone!

11. Before I go to bed...
i need to do more laundry.

12. Right now I am thinking about...
whether or not i feel like the weekend was a success.

13. Today I...
started planning a DisneyLand vacation. I really want to take the kids but i don't know when it's going to happen.

14. Tonight I will...
hopefully sleep like a baby.

15. Tomorrow I will be...
sad because it's just another icky Monday. :(

and a peek at what i made today featuring Cosmo Cricket paper!

It's here! 2007!

Well, a new year, a new me.... LOL, not really but a girl can dream. I tried not to pressure myself too much this time with resolutions because I seem to never resolve anything. I am continuing to try some of the goals I've been working on for a lifetime it seems. ;-) I don't take myself too seriously so really, these are things that I am going to continue to strive for over the next year and thensome I'm sure.

1. Lose weight and take better care of myself.
2. Quit smoking
3. Quit caffeine
4. Spend more QT with the family
5. Stress less at work
6. Learn something new
7. Spend less money

Last night, we just hung out as a family and ran outside at midnight to check out fireworks. Not much since they started them at 8 pm and i'm guessing everyone ran out by midnight, LOL. Came inside and then had deep conversation with dh until 5 am. I love that... it's like catch up time for the past few months.
Anyway, I ran outside with my camera and my brand new flash and since i still don't know how to work it, i didn't really get any great shots. boohoo. Next year... next year i will. I LOVE my new flash. It is so worth every penny. I can't believe how awesome it works in my house. I have always had really bad lighting so my pictures sometimes suck because of the shadows... but this thing is the BOMB! LOL, sounds so silly to get excited about but honestly, the difference is amazing. I will have to post some before/after type photos just to show this thing off. If you have a Canon, you should check this baby out - Canon Speedlite 580EX Flash. I am astounded by the difference it makes for indoor shots. Thank you thank you thank you, Santa!

Blog Challenge from Annette @ ScrapAddict.com

2007 is here. What do you want to accomplish for YOURSELF this year? What are you goals or dreams? What are you most looking forward to? Give us a prediction of how you see your life going in 07.

I foresee great things happening in 2007. A lot about me has changed in the past few years but truly, after having baby #3, I think I have changed even more. It's strange to say but it's like I have more of a grip on what life's truly all about. I don't have all the answers but the things I learned in 2006 are starting to really open up more doors for me.
Family life: I am really looking forward to spending more quality time with the kids and Kurt. I want to start scheduling in a family day when we're both off of work... like once a month. Whether we leave the house or not, I think this will be so fun. Maybe we'll go to the movies or swimming or just stay in and play a board game. We need this as a family to keep us close because we all have such opposite schedules.
Work life: I have come to the realization that I can't always do everything. I continue to try to but this year, I am not going to let work rule my life. It almost drove me to the brink of insanity last year. Not doing that again. I won't allow it. I will more than likely be in the same position for the next 10 years if I stay at this job so there's no need for me to feel like I must overachieve.
Personally: I truly need to keep working at taking better care of myself. First of all, I need to drop this extra 50 pounds. It is affecting me a great deal in so many areas... physically and mentally. I will keep playing the Biggest Loser game at work no matter if I don't "win". Losing weight or not gaining weight is a victory in itself. Also, with three kids, i don't seem to ever find time to just take care of myself. I want to start trying to do that more... you know... like making time to put on a facial mask or destress. I seem to always just be in a hurry to get going. And I look like it, too. I am going to keep going to the salon every other week to get my eyebrows done. Karen got me a g/c to go tanning. I need to because i'm so pale... and it relaxes me and makes me feel better about myself. Having no daylight for the winter tends to get me in a really bad funk. I don't want to feel depressed this year. I realize tanning is not good for you but the damage it does on my skin is worth it... I need the light. I don't care if it is UV fake! LOL! If I can accomplish taking better care of myself, I think everything else will eventually start to fall into place --- the other big or little goals like quitting smoking, ditching the dr. pepper, etc. Lofty goals but I have the rest of my life to do this, right? ;)

Ok, I am exhausted today and need to go get off the computer so i can get a few things done. Happy New Year!
