What?!! It's the end of May!?!

I cannot believe May's almost over. Sheez, where did the month go?

I just came home from work and it looks like it may rain this evening. This will spoil our plans to go to Pioneer Park tonight. Ooops. The kids really wanted to go and have apparently been good boy and girls all day in anticipation. Will have to find something else to do I guess.

Got a call from the endotonist's office at 11 asking if I wanted to come in for my root canal early. Heck yeah! I wasn't scheduled until the 10th of June but I needed to have it done pronto asap before I got another infection or something. They had me on a waitlist for cancellations. So I boogied over there and got that all squared away. No major pain yet. I will keep my fingers crossed, though. Went back to work and everyone kept saying that I was a warrior because I came back to work after a root canal. LOL... if only they knew what real tooth pain was. I have a really HIGH tolerance for pain in my mouth region. Not only that, but I go to the BEST root canal guy on the planet!

We have been doing projects around the house the past few weeks. Just finished the living room modifications the other day. We are moving our couches and tv downstairs to the family room and in prep for that, we are freshening some things for what will be our new dining room. Four and a half years ago when we bought this house, I made Kurt promise that he would tear down the wood paneling on the wall in this room within a year. Well, he was a little late but we finally got rid of it! I am in heaven. I had bought new paneling (paintable bead board) because I wasn't sure what was under the old paneling. We tried to take off the joiner thingies because we needed a flat surface to apply the new paneling to but it was impossible to get them off. I started to just rip away at some paneling and whaddayaknow? There was drywall underneath!!! Hooray! The only problem was that the room has textured walls and this wall was not textured. The texturing is a really unique orange peel look if you know what I mean. LOL... not easy to duplicate. Not only that but the drywall had glue all over it and it looked like it might take a year to sand it off. So I decided to go forth with the new paneling. We put a nice darkly stained frame around all the seams and on the top and bottom so it looks really nice... kind of Asian inspired I guess. The color we chose to paint the paneling is a red color. It dried a bit darker than expected but I was glad it wasn't as red as it looked in the can! LOL! It looks pretty cool all in all and honestly, anything was better than that nasty 70's wood paneling. *puke*

I bought a really big dining table with 6 chairs and the table is going to be delivered on Saturday. The chairs unfortunately won't be here for another month, though. Wah! I can't wait.

Well, I guess we are deciding to go attempt the outing and hope that it doesn't rain. I'll write more later. :)

School's OUT for summer!

Ok, kids got out of school on Friday and today was their first Monday home all day in a long while. They seem to have been decently good. LOL

I have been working my booty off at work and coming home and working my booty off just trying to do all the extra things like spring cleaning, painting, gardening, and yardwork. Ugh! I'm exhausted and have been coughing all day. Gia has managed to give me her lovely cold. I hate this kind of cough... I will probably manage to pull a muscle somewhere again and end up taking muscle relaxants.

I haven't been up to much else! Just trying to keep things on an level field everywhere in life!

So nobody has any book recommendations for me? LOL... that's okay. I stopped having time to read since I last posted. I got about a chapter into a book and it's been sitting there unread for at least 2 weeks. ;)

Page turners?

I love today's Urban Dictionary word of the day: shituation. :) It applies to a lot of happenings in my life lately and is oh-so-appropriate. LOL

Guess what? I started reading again... yes, I am literate and I'm reading real books. I read a few over the last couple of weeks on the airplanes. Most recent was Tami Hoag's "The Alibi Man." It was decent and kept my attention. The other was Harlan Coben's "The Woods." I liked this one better out of the two but now I want to go to the bookstore to buy another book. Give me some recommendations!!! I usually prefer fiction of the suspense/thriller variety but am tired of the same ol' popular authors. Also tired of the same ol' suspense/thriller storyline and would love a good read where the main characters aren't detectives. LOL

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! No huge plans here but I hope everyone else has a great one!

First of May

Holy cow! It's already May!!! I can't believe our weather is still so crummy. At least it's looking more like spring. It snowed more yesterday but I wasn't here to see it. I was down south in Kenai and Soldotna where the weather wasn't fantastic but it wasn't snowing... LOL.

I am so glad to be home and have no upcoming trips to take. I'm pretty exhausted. It's not difficult work but traveling is so tiring. After working a full day on Tuesday, I spent most of the night in airports and planes. Missing luggage required an additional trip to the airport in the middle of the night. Then worked a full day on Wednesday and spent the rest of the night in the airport and planes again. After a 4 hour layover, the pilot didn't come to work I guess so the last flight was delayed another hour. I didn't get home until 2 a.m. this morning. I finally got to bed and went to work this afternoon for a few hours. Promptly came home and napped. LOL! I am now awake doing laundry.

Tomorrow morning I have a 3 hour dentist appointment. Hopefully that will go well and I won't be told I need root canals. I think I'm getting another crown (maybe 2??) Sigh.

Orion was such a sweetie while I was away. He cut out letters that read "Welcome Home" and hung them from the ceiling... he did an awesome job. Kids are amazing sometimes. I had no idea he was capable of such a complex thing like that. Well, it's not like it's so complex but you know what I mean... he did a really nice job on it. The kids also wrapped up some "presents" for me. LOL! They like to waste mom's wrapping paper and tape to wrap things to give me. I got two piggybanks (that we've had for years) and a couple "certificates" (that we've had for years too, probably LOL). They're so sweet. It's the thought that counts. Makes me glad to be a mom and makes me forget about all of the "bad" stuff.

Kurt is also a sweetie. When I called him from the aiport he said he had the house all cleaned and laundry started. He even made the bed and changed the sheets! SWEET! LOL... nothing like coming home exhausted to your own bed with clean SHEETS! Ahhhh... the simple things in life. You have to know that Kurt has never changed the sheets without me asking him (but only asking him to help me change them). Score.

I'm going to be resting up for the weekend methinks. I really need to do a lot of things but I'm not going to make lofty goals or anything. I just want to enjoy some time relaxing. Hope everyone has a good weekend!!!
