Holidaze
Literally a holi-DAZE. Christmas came and went in a snap it seems. I always forget that it's the days that lead up to the big day that are the most fun. Stressful - yes, but fun. Shopping with 3 kids is impossible... especially when you can't take them because you have to buy the gifts FOR them. Not only that, but working overtime in the middle of it all didn't help me find any time to actually do the shopping. At one point, I had rushed home from work on a Friday, dropped Gia off at a friend's house, ran Orion over to a birthday party, and then hauled the baby to the store (she at least is too young to know, LOL). Running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I managed to polish off some of the odds and ends and then make it back to the birthday party to pick Orion up and then back to the friend's house to pick Gia up. Got home and left everything in the trunk for a few days because I couldn't find a moment to sneak it out of there. LOL!
This is a good reason why I did a bunch of my shopping online this year. Amazon, eToys, and a couple other assorted places I had to go because those online stores were out of what the kids wanted. I got a little huffy with Kurt in the process of some of it because I would show him what I thought I was going to get and he cared but didn't care, know what I mean? I sometimes tire of being the one that has to do all of the shopping. I used to love to shop but when it became an ulcer inducing thing, I kind of started to hate it. As usual, I left his family up to him because he knows them best. He didn't do it and didn't do it and finally I had to nag. I kept asking him if he had gotten it done yet and the last response was for me to quit pressuring him!! Oye! I kind of blew up a little. I mean, I was only asking so that I could clear it from my conscious. It is a gift from all of us and if he didn't do it, then it kind of makes ME look bad, too... know what I mean? Well, it turned out fine in the end but next year... I'm going to buy their gifts, too just to relieve my own stress.
I enjoyed Christmas this year! It was great to have my brother and brother in law come over, too. I haven't seen my brother in awhile and i guess he was at the homeless point. He stopped by my work last week to borrow money and i just wrote him a check and said Merry Christmas. He offered to pay me back but to be honest, he never pays me back and it gets me annoyed so I just said forget it and consider it your Christmas present. LOL!
The day of Christmas was pretty fun despite still having a bit of mouth pain from the extractions I had done last Wednesday. It still hurts a bit and so I'm having to take my vicodin... which i love for pain but hate for my brain. I get pretty loopy on it... hence the holi-daze. I took some this morning at work and ended up having to go home around 2 because I was pretty lit and my accuracy was going downhill. Tomorrow morning I have my follow up. Hope I don't have dry socket or anything. I have been doing all the wrong things like drinking caffeine and used a straw a few times and smoking. *bad me* Marissa was also sick the morning of Christmas. She woke up with runny nose and congestion. Seems to be sick still but I think she is on the upswing.
Back to Christmas... lots of great presents were given and received this year! I didn't get a lot of pics on Christmas though. Kurt took some of the kids opening presents but pretty much forgot about the camera the rest of the time. I spent most of the day helping Marissa open her gifts, cooking and zoning out being on the drugs. LOL!
Marissa got a V-Smile Baby system, Baby Einstein game for it, tap-a-tune piano, peek-a-boo pop up toy thing, clothes, lil' blankie with the tabs on it, musical octopus, musical phone, musical baby radio thingie, doll, and some other cute toys I can't remember.
Gia got way too much. LOL! Some of the hits were her Barbie Hot Tub van (sounds tres' trashy, huh? LOL, I thought it was a hoot), Littlest Pet Shop stuff, Bratz doll, Barbie Holiday, Bratz hairstyle head, remote control mustang, pink Gameboy and games, Hello Kitty cd player with a NOW cd, Hello Kitty alarm clock radio, makeup, lots of clothes, etc.
Orion got a bunch, too. We got him Frigits magnet marble thingie that's really quite fun for everyone, Quadrilla marble run, remote control car, remote control Mario Cart, gameboy games, ATM bank, magic set, big ol' semi truck that holds all of the Hot Wheels cars, lots of Lego stuff, play dough set, clothes and more.
Also, we purchased a really great HP computer for the kids. It was only $250 through HP. Now they can stay off of my laptop. I'm tired of them overheating it with their games. hehe. We have extra monitors and stuff so now we just need like a little desk and some chairs to set it up in the family room.
Cash was the gift this year! We got cash from everyone and the kids got moolah, too. :) I got Kurt a new PSP game, PSP case, pajamas, and some other stuff I can't remember. He had a pretty big birthday so I couldn't figure out what to buy him. He bought way too much for me. I got a diamond necklace, my beautiful 580 speedlite flash, and a digital tablet. Now to pay these bills off... ayiyiyi!
Here is a picture of the kids we got on Christmas Eve at the Santa Claus House. I totally thought Marissa was going to not cooperate but she didn't do so badly. Didn't cry even! It wasn't even that much of a madhouse there either. I so thought it would be crowded but not too shabby. We got our number (41) and as we were waiting, another family gave us their number (39). Not a huge leap but much appreciated. I returned the favor by giving this young couple with their newborn baby our number because they had #49. That really brightened the mood there. :) We probably only waited about 15 minutes total before it was our turn.
Okay, i better go get some laundry and dishes done so i can hit the hay.
