summer summer time...

It's definitely feeling like summer lately. There's a bit of snow lingering under shady places but for the most part, it's GONE! Weather's been beautiful - in the 40's and 50's. Ahhhhh! Sun everywhere and it's been lighter out! I think the sun is coming up before 6 am and setting at about 9 or 10 pm. Good ol' daylight... I missed you so!

I got back from Juneau on Wednesday. It was a good trip... as good as a work trip can be. Juneau is really pretty. This is my second time visiting but I really took better notice of the scenery this time. I can totally see why people love to live there. The air smells nice and clean. The mountains surround you. And... it's just a nice little place. Lots of nice, friendly people and it reminds me a little bit of Fairbanks.

While in Juneau, I broke my power adaptor or whatever on my laptop. :( Boo hoo! I can't get it charged because the plug-in seems to have sunk in a bit so it's not forming a connection. Kurt took it apart a little bit but after 30 screws, he decided he was in too deep and didn't want to make matters worse. He builds his own desktop systems but he is no "laptop man." LOL, he said that he couldn't guarantee that he could put it back together if he took it all apart so... take it somewhere else to get fixed. I did. :) I was praying it would be cheap to fix but no... it's not expensive per se but I hate paying for repairs. $240 because it's going to take 3 hours of labor to take apart to replace the part that needs replaced. UGH! I'm just hoping I have it back by the time we leave for Disneyland. I feel lost without it. How sad am I? Last night, I fell asleep at like 9 pm because i missed my laptop. Curled up into the fetal position and slept the depression away. LOL

Yesterday was the last day of a 2 day show here in Fairbanks. It was exhausting. Leaving for Anchorage tomorrow morning. Karen and I have been calling it Los Anchorage. Why? I dunno... I guess because it's the "big city" in Alaska. Heehehe. We are going to spend the day shopping. I love 5th Avenue Mall! Wish I could go to Anchorage more often but it's a six hour drive... and only one I'm willing to take in the summer/fall. I'm flying for work, though. It's only 45 minutes that way. Monday and Tuesday will be workdays at the show and then we're hauling @$$ to Kenai/Soldotna Tuesday night. Wednesday is another show and then we're coming home really late.

I think I will be sleeping most of the day on Thursday. I should go to work but I highly doubt I will. LOL! Friday will be back to work and after that, I'm officially on vacation. Wooooo hooo! Leaving all my worries and work behind for a week and a half.

My camera memory card came in the mail finally yesterday. Stupid thing took like 2 weeks through priority mail. Kind of had me worried since most Amazon stuff I order only takes like 4 days tops. I got a good deal on it. 2 MB Ultra II for $35. At Office Max in town they were wanting $60 for the same card but it was only 1 MB. What a gyp! I wanted the Ultra III but Amazon had low stock so everytime I put it in the cart it said the est. ship date was April 11th. I couldn't risk it. This one should be okay. I just need the faster speed write and LOTS of space since I tend to take a bajillion shots. I averaged out how many photos I take of events and it's usually 100-200.

The Crocs came this past week, too but I was really PO'ed!!! They only sent mine and Orion's. The others were out of stock. I waited like 11 days and they never notified me about this inbetween so I could try to find them elsewhere!?!!?? I know, seems kind of stupid to get upset about but this is after I shipped the original shipment back (that took 11 days to get via UPS) because they were all WAY too big. I mailed them back and reordered smaller sizes (some different styles) and only got 2 pair out of 4. Sucky! I am going to go out to Beaver Sports, Coldspot Feeds and Gottschalks today to see if I can find some for Kurt and Gia. Gia's were Disney Crocs so I really doubt I can find those here. Kurt's were some Professional ones that I kind of doubt they carry in town, either. *sigh* Well, hopefully I can find some that are comparable or better. If I can't find any, I will check in Anchorage tomorrow. And if not there, then we'll have to wait until we go to Disneyland. What a bummer.

Kurt put the stroller together the other day... the one we're taking to Disneyland. Thanks, Annette for recommending we get this one! It's a Sit 'n Stand so that Gia can ride on it as well when her legs get tired (and I know they will!). I was afraid it was going to be gigantic but it's not that big. It's super easy to manuever, too! Love it! I'm going to have to take Marissa on it around the neighborhood maybe. We don't use strollers much (uhhh.... the snow?!) so she will need to get used to being confined in a seat.

Ok, I woke up at 3 am and now it's 6:30. I'm hungry and tired... maybe I will take a nap before the kids get up.

The countdown begins...

oh my! I'm getting really excited about our vacation to disneyland! 16 more days. I have been counting down since like 84 days LOL--- but it's now a little more in reach. I've got a lot of stuff to get done this weekend because I'm going to be really busy the next two weeks with work travel.

Monday afternoon, I will be taking off to the southeast (Juneau) and won't be home until Wednesday. Then, the following Sunday morning I'm headed to Anchorage. Spend 3 days there and then leave for Kenai from there for a day. I won't be home until Wednesday. Will work for a day or two and then I'm officially on vacation. I'll be a little jet-lagged I'm sure but I LOVE flying (sans all the security).

This weekend I've gotta kick things into high gear. I'm getting off my rear RIGHT now and getting it started (LOL, it's already 11 and i'm still in my jammies) !

pre-easter...

I'm tired! For some reason I decided to wake up at 3 am this morning. I fell asleep again at 6 am but got up at 9. I've been out and about running around all day. I have come to kind of hate the weekends. I try to get all of the stuff done that I can't do during the week and it pretty much shoots the whole freaking weekend. I go to work on Mondays kicking myself in the @$$. Why didn't I take a day to relax or do something more enjoyable? Ahhh well. Summer is coming and this usually makes it easier to get stuff done in the evenings after work. I feel a little less inundated if I can just throw the kids in the car and go run around. At least I don't have to outfit them in their winter gear, argue with them about where their hat is, etc. Just throw some flip flops at them and say "Get in the car!" LOL

Can't believe it was 52 degrees today!!! It was so nice! The snow is melting really fast and on Friday I couldn't get my car up my driveway because the snow was all slushy. I just left it, though... didn't care that it was practically in the street. hehehe. Today I got a running start and gunned it all the way up no problem. The back end was going crazy and I practically crashed through the garage door... but I made it! I am guessing that the snow will be pretty much gone in about 3 weeks if this weather keeps up. Then we'll get to see the depressing brown grass and all the trash that was buried under snow all winter. I ain't complaining, though!

Trip to California can't come soon enough. 23 more days until I see the Disney characters for the first time in my life. 23 more days until my kids experience a wonderful vacation that will create memories forever (hopefully good ones, LOL). I'm still a little nervous about Kurt going. He can be the funnest guy but when he is stressed out or feels crowded, he gets cranky. I bought a Donald Duck t-shirt that says "I *heart* Cranky Boys." He just doesn't have the tools to stay calm, cool, collected. I am one that can get pretty tempermental but when I'm somewhere where my main goal *IS* to have fun/enjoy myself, I go out of my way to make the most of it and let stuff roll off my back. I so wish he was more like me in that respect. He's not uptight but if pushed in the wrong direction, he blows up a little easier than I.
I guess I can only hope for the best.

Easter tomorrow and I'm not prepared. Ugh! Good thing it's one of the final holidays for awhile. I need a holiday break. I think I might just have to start cutting some holidays out completely. LOL... maybe Valentine's Day, Easter and July 4th. Ok, some might not be happy without Easter but I'm not much of a religious person. We spend the day coloring easter eggs, doing the egg hunt and eating candy until we're sick. Fun, but not really quite what the holiday is all about.

Ok, I think I've blabbed on long enough. I'm sleepy in the body but my mind is racing. Weeee!

my new lil' friend

a new little friend came in the mail today. :) I love it! I have never owned an "ultracompact" camera and this one is a BEAUT! It's a Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph! I've only tinkered with it for maybe 10 minutes but it's love at first site. This lil' camera is NOT to replace my beloved Canon 20D DSLR but I needed to have a compact pocket camera for the upcoming vacation in Disneyland. mmmm... yeah. That was my excuse anyway. ;-) I'm a little torked right now because I see it's gone down in price $20 since I made my purchase a week or so ago. Arg! Oh well, I will ignore I saw that... still feel it was a steal for $280. I'll report back later after I put it to some tests and run it through the ringer.

Intelligence

Stole this from Carolyn's blog... LOL. And look, I got the same results! I suspected I might. :)

Your Dominant Intelligence is Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

You are great at finding patterns and relationships between things.

Always curious about how things work, you love to set up experiments.

You need for the world to make sense - and are good at making sense of it.

You have a head for numbers and math ... and you can solve almost any logic puzzle.

You would make a great scientist, engineer, computer programmer, researcher, accountant, or mathematician.

What Kind of Intelligence Do You Have?

Photos from Marissa's 1st Birthday

Admittedly, she was quite grumpy all day long so I didn't get many "smiley" shots. The dress she is wearing is Korean. Gianna wore the same dress on her first birthday. Orion wore Korean attire on hist first birthday as well but it was of course the male version similar to this. Now I have to save this dress for my grandkids' first birthday. :) She didn't really get into her cake as I'd hoped. She seemed pretty disgusted with the lot of us. LOL! I think she didn't like the frosting. Very strange since she is in love with sugar.

layouts catch up

Here are some layouts I did in March. :)

woah

Oye... it's been awhile since I last did an update. Not sure where to start at this point. LOL

Ok, let's see... March flew right on by! I can't believe it's already April. Marissa turned 1 yesterday. I will post some pictures tomorrow or later tonight. Other than, that... not much else happening. It's the end of the allotment spending at work so we've been busy as all get out. Went to work last night really late and wrapped up loose ends. We will be buried in paperwork for 3 months now. I am getting ready to do some travel for work mid April to the end of April and then I'm taking off to Disneyland! Weeee! Have been preparing for that. Ordered the croc shoes, a stroller, and *gulp* yet another new camera. DH bought a portable dvd player, too so the kids will stay occupied on the half day air travel. We're broke, now. LOL... oh well.

I'm busy burning back ups of my hugungous photos. I'm only able to fit like 2 months worth on a cd. Ugh... I should've bought some high capacity dvd's. I also got most of the files off of my desktop so I can hopefully retire it now. I've been planning it's retirement for about 2 years now. LOL. The only thing it has been used for is for printing photos and scanning/uploading layouts. Now I will bury it for good. It's served its purpose for 7 1/2 years. It's time to let go. heheheh

Ok, back to work for me. Will update later again I promise.
