Yesssss... Saturday

So glad it's Saturday but am working again this weekend. I have worked some 60 hours this week already. bleh

My dining room chairs finally arrived this morning after having the table for 2 months. LOL! They look so nice even though they aren't really meant to go with the table. I got six delivered but I think I may want two more if they don't have to order them.

Came home from the office and Kurt was asleep and the kids were off somewhere playing in the neighborhood. I am waiting for them to come back so I can take them over to grandma's house to pick up the baby. I haven't seen baby Marissa in eons it seems. Grandma has had a few months vacation from work and keeps stealing her from me. I called the other day and asked if I could have some visitation or if she was suing me for primary custody. LOL! As much as it is nice to have my mom around to help out with the kids, I sometimes don't want the help... hehe. She pretty much spoils her rotten and it is difficult to get her behavior in check when she gets back. She is extremely bossy because grandma does whatever she tells her to. Yeah. It's not pretty. I think I've only had Marissa maybe 3 days in the past month it seems like. Oh well, she is happy and she makes my mom happy and keeps her busy.

:)

Urban Dictionary

I have always enjoyed getting these Urban Word of the Day emails and so I thought I'd post a few from the past week. If you want to check it out, here's the link:
Urban Dictionary
:)

July 21: flirtationship
When you regularly flirt with an acquaintance or friend but do no more.
1. Rick and Julie flirt whenever they are together, but they've never gone out. They aren't in any sort of relationship, merely a flirtationship.
2. Bob has only one girlfriend, but starts a flirtationship with almost every girl he meets.

July 20: cheese and rice
This is a less offensive way of saying "Jesus Christ"
It originated with the movie 'The Faculty'. In the real version, one of the characters exclaimed "Jesus Christ!" but in the edited TV version, they had it changed to "Cheese and rice!"
Guy #1: "Aliens landed on Earth!"
Guy #2: "Cheese and rice!"

July 18: That's how I roll
What someone would say to insinuate that it was their style, or that it was the way they usually do things.
"Yo man so did you already hit it or what?"
"Yeah, you know that's how I roll."

July 16: poopular
Adjective. Popular on the outside, poopy on the inside.
"Everyone likes Ben but he's a real a$$hole. I guess he's just poopular."

I tagged myself

I was reading Laura's blog and I hadn't ever done this particular tagging thing so here it is. For anyone else who hasn't been tagged, you are no also required to answer these. ;)

10 Years Ago:
1998 - I was probably just finding out I was pregnant with Orion. At the time, I was attending summer classes at the university because I was going through a re-training program after being laid off at the closing down grocery store I worked at for so long. Kurt and I had plans to pack our stuff up and move to New York City to go to art school. I wanted to be a graphic artist and Kurt wanted to do computer animation. My, how life changes after the lines show up on the test stick. LOL

5 Things on Today's To-Do List:
Sunday - make a big breakfast, do laundry, go to barbecue at friends house, get eyebrows under control, finish reading my book

Snacks I Enjoy:
Any and all. Lately, chips and cheese.

Things I Would Do if I Were a Millionaire:
Pay off our bills and mortgage, put money into something that would make more money, retire, travel the world (in that particular order)

Places I Have Lived:
Ft. Bragg, NC (born)
Colorado Springs, CO
Ft. Wainwright, AK
Fairbanks, AK
Bay City, MI

Puppies

Well, it's just over 7 weeks since the puppies were born and now it's time to let them go to good homes. We have given 3 out already and have 1 promised but it's not specific. I'm posting these pictures taken on 7/13 for anyone interested. You can click the image to see it a bit bigger.

Puppies-
Black Males: Prince (gone) & Big (available)
Black Females: Tiny (Kurt wants to keep her) & Curly Sue (available)
Brown Males: no silly names for either but they are both gone :(
Brown Females: Pinky (available) & Brownie (available) [note: one brown female is promised but not any particular one]

Oh... i suppose I should tell a bit about their personalities, too.
Big is the biggest out of all of the puppies... like way bigger! He is really quiet and likes to just plop down on the ground on his belly to nap. He doesn't run very fast because of his size and he has the cutest sad "St. Bernard" face. He has some white markings on his chest.
Curly Sue has a wavy, black coat. I think she is pure black. She is kind of mischievous and likes to nibble on everything. She was one of the first to learn to climb the stairs and she has a really outgoing personality. She runs a lot!
Pinky is my favorite. She is sweet and a nice balance of timid and playful. She has the softest, fluffiest fur and has a more golden hue to her coat. She has one pink toe on her foot so that is where she got her name. She wags her tail a lot!
Brownie is just now becoming more personable. She was pretty quiet and stayed to herself when she was younger but she is coming out of her shell. She is fond of nibbling as well. She is kind of a mama's girl... hangs out with her mom whenever she's around.
Tiny is our adorable runt. Kurt would like to keep her but he said if someone wanted her, he might consider letting her go. She is a ball of fire. She has always been the most personable of all the others and enjoys being around humans. She also enjoys biting and chewing on everything.

JULY!

... July! Where did May and June go? I can't believe it's already July. Sorry about the slacking on the blogging. I've just been busy (my usual excuse, eh? LOL) But for real... I have been!!!

Let's see. What's been going on? I've been working A LOT. So I got myself a tiny raise but they took me off as an hourly employee and put me down as salary.

The puppies are getting big. They're 5 weeks old now so it won't be long until I can start unloading them. muhahahaa! ;) I've been trying not to coddle them too much because it's tough when you get attached and then have to let them go. Definitely already have my favorites but they're all so stinkin' cute.

Marissa survived a visit to the eye doctor. She had signs of strabismus (sp?) like Orion had as a toddler. Orion ended up getting surgery on his eyes when he was about 2 1/2 due to the left eye not working as hard as the other. Marissa has the same thing going on with her left eye and so the doctor prescribed drops for the right eye. The drops will make her eyesight worse on the right in order to force her to use her left more. It would be nice to just do the drops for 5 -6 weeks and then have it be corrected but I'm pretty doubtful that it will resolve things. Orion wore glasses and a patch over his good eye for like 8 months I think and it didn't do a danged thing. Who knows, though. Oh yeah... even though Marissa wouldn't look at the doctor or let him come near her (silly girl hates strangers... actually is afraid of everyone - stranger or not, lol), the doctor was also able to determine she was a little far sighted so he forsees glasses as well. I kinda figured so it wasn't a surprise. I think he wanted to wait on the glasses though - probably because she was so uncooperative.

It was a fairly uneventful 4th of July celebration today. Woke up and just muddled around for awhile doing laundry and steam cleaning carpets. We let the kids and their friends go through the sprinkler. Watched our neighbors set off some firecrackers in the street... they were just the smoky loud ones. I wish we could watch some real fireworks in the summer. It's just not the same watching fireworks on new year's when it's like -20 out. lol - all you can think about is trying to stay warm and after 5 minutes, you gotta run inside to warm up.

It was so hot outside today, though. I like it but I can't take the heat as well as I used to. My arms start getting itchy from all the sun. Poor Kurt has photo-dermatitis... the poor guy breaks out in red, bumpy rashes on his arms and hands if he spends any period of time in the sun.

So, this evening I bbq'ed. Made ribs, italian sausages, and grilled shrimp... lots of protein. I even only had one side dish and it was baked beans, LOL! We had watermelon afterward. And later had a friend over with her kids... and now I'm just chilling here watching cartoons with Orion at 1 a.m. hehe. Getting ready to send him to bed though so I can have some quiet time. Tomorrow, I really want to clean up my scrapping stuff and maybe make a page! I think it's been a few months since I last scrapped again. Ugh... making time for hobbies is too hard lately.

Have a great weekend, all!
